Brian Hadley Wins 2018 Breenie Cup & PGA of Ontario Player of the Year

10/18/2018

FONTHILL, ON -- Going into this year's Player of the Year Championship Brian Hadley had a thirty-two-point lead for the Breenie Cup. With his T15 finish on Tuesday he held the lead and became the 2018 Breenie Cup winner and the PGA of Ontario Player of the Year. Jake McNulty's 2nd place finish and Danny King's T12 finish were all good enough to land them on top of their respective divisions, CFM Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year points races.

“I feel like I played very well this year, I worked hard to improve my play from around and on the greens, which gave me more confidence when I missed a green in regulation.  It was a goal of mine this year to win the Breenie Cup as it is a huge honour to be the Player of The Year with all of the talent that we have in the members of the PGA Ontario zone. To be included with all the past winners is something very special to me.” said Brian Hadley.

Blair Breen, son of the late Bob Breen, was at Lookout Point Country Club on behalf of the Chase for the Breenie Cup presented by Triple Bogey Brewing Co. to congratulate Brian Hadley on his great and successful year playing in Breenie Cup events.

“The Player of the Year Championship at Lookout Point was a fantastic venue and in incredible shape, the members and staff were very welcoming and helpful. The course set up was very fair but mother nature had different plans with the wind, rain and cold which made for a very difficult 2 days of golf. I played well for 30 holes at least but unfortunately couldn't find a way to finish well on the last 6 in the second round. I hope we can return to Lookout Point next year so I can have another chance to beat the course.” recalls Hadley.

"It is always an honour presenting the Breenie Cup and to Brian who throughout the year played great showing his hard work and effort week in and week out to make him the player of the year series winner and recipient of the Breenie Cup well done Brian" said Blair Breen.
