Darren Allan & Scott Cowx Pick Up Another
PING Head Pro / Head Pro Championship Win at Glencairn

(Milton, Ont., - September 7, 2010) - Darren Allan (Otter Creek) and Scott Cowx (HGCC Teaching Academy) beat David Banks (Within Range) and Ian Doig (Ian Doig Golf Academy) in a two hole playoff to claim the 2010 Head Professional / Head Professional Championship today at Glencairn. Allan and Cowx parred the second hole of the playoff in the alternate shot format to clinch victory. With this win Allan and Cowx become the first team in the history of the event to win more than once. The former Hamilton Golf & Country Club co-workers also won in 2008.

“I think we work well together and really keep each other calm out there,” said Allan. “We have really good chemistry and we don’t get down on each other if a mistake is made,” added Cowx.

The Head Professional / Head Professional Championship is a 27-hole event which consists of three different formats.  Teams play nine holes of Alternate Shot, nine holes of Better Ball and nine holes of Scramble. Allan and Cowx managed to finish the alternate shot portion at even par and were 4-under-par on both the scramble and better ball formats.

“I think the key for the alternate shot is to just play your own game and we were able to that today,” said Cowx. “It was tough out there today with the wind but we managed to keep it together,” added Allan, who along with Cowx managed the 35-50 km/h winds quite nicely.

2009 Winners Bradlee Ryall (Academy at BraeBen) and Danny King (Performace Academy at Magna) finished five shots back from the eventual winners at 3-under-par. 2007 Winners Danny Maue (Buncrana) and Jim Farrelly (Guelph Lakes) were two shots off the lead while perennial teammates Bob McClure (Osprey Valley) and Brian French (Mad River) also finished two shots back.
