Ontario PGA Member Christine Dengel Joins Golf Canada as Regional Director, Membership for Ontario & Atlantic Canada

(Oakville, Ont., February 16, 2011) – Golf Canada announced today that Christine Dengel has been named the Association’s new Regional Director, Membership for Ontario and Atlantic Canada.

She joins Golf Canada following an 18-year career as a Territory Sales Manager for Callaway Golf Canada.  During her time with Callaway, Dengel managed the GTA and Southwestern Ontario territory from 1992-2005 and has managed the Southern Ontario territory since 2006. 

Dengel will be responsible for the growth of membership programs as well as managing key allied association and partner relationships in Ontario and Atlantic Canada.  In addition, she will assist with the development and execution of Golf Canada branded membership programs as well as the club visitation program that touched more than 650 golf courses in 2010.

“We are thrilled to have Christine join the membership development team,” said Golf Canada CEO Scott Simmons.  “She has over 30 years of experience in multiple facets of the golf industry, a proven track record of providing excellent customer service, and a lifelong passion for and commitment to the game of golf.  She has spent close to 20 years developing relationships with clubs professionals and general managers and her ability to leverage those relationships will be an asset to our club visitation strategy.”

The Chatham, Ont. native joins the trio of Golf Canada Regional Membership Directors that also includes Blair Armitage (Western Canada) and Remi Bouchard (Quebec and New Brunswick).  

Dengel assumed her new role effective February 14, 2011. 

ABOUT CHRISTINE DENGEL
Christine Dengel is a Canadian PGA golf professional with over 30 years of experience in multiple facets of the golf industry, a proven track record of providing excellent customer service, and a lifelong passion for and commitment to the game of golf.  She joins Golf Canada following an 18-year career as a Territory Sales Manager for Callaway Golf Canada.  During her time with Callaway, Dengel managed the GTA and Southwestern Ontario territory from 1992-2005 and has managed the Southern Ontario territory since 2006. 

In her role as Territory Sales Manager, she was responsible for growth and maintenance of business in territories representing approximately 100 accounts.  She represented Callaway Golf as an ambassador of their brand and provided customer service and product support for all accounts.  Over the course of her career, she has established long term relationships with general managers and golf professionals at golf clubs throughout Ontario and has developed industry contacts across Canada.
A member of the Canadian PGA since 1979, Dengel also works with Maple City Country Club in Chatham, Ont. where she organizes golf and social functions for the membership; provides individual and group lessons; and assists with the junior golf program.  Her husband John is the longtime General Manager and Head Professional at Maple City CC.

She has also sat on the Ontario PGA Board of Directors as Director and Assistant Director of Education (2002-2005).  She has served as the Callaway Golf representative with the National Golf Foundation (2003-2005), where she joined other golf manufacturers in directing funds to promote elite golf athletes in Canada.

A graduate of the University of Windsor, Christine has also been a Guest Lecturer for Professional Golf Management students at both Humber and St. Clair College.  In addition, Dengel spent eight years as the volunteer Convenor of the Essex-Kent Junior Girls Golf Championship.
